Visiting scientists

Unfortunately CSACS will not be accepting applications for its 2015-16 Visiting Scientist Program. Participants in this program will engage in collaborative research with Centre members, and give lectures at the member universities. CSACS is a unique research centre, based in Quebec, Canada, which brings together scientists who study the self-assembly of molecules and exploit this method to create new materials and new phenomena. The 40 faculty members include polymer scientists, electrochemists, spectroscopists, biophysical chemists, synthetic chemists and theoreticians who collaborate on projects in polymer self-assembly, supramolecular chemistry, biomembranes, liquid crystalline materials and self-assembled monolayers.

The program provides funding for housing and travel expenses. CSACS covers on average $2,500/month in living expenses. Ideal candidates are renowned academic scientists, active in a field of chemical self-assembly, who will spend part of a sabbatical leave or a summer break with the Centre. The applicant must justify the amounts requested for the stay by detailing the estimated expenses to be incurred. The visiting scientist must apply before he/she starts the residence.

Applicants should send a cover letter, research plan (including the budget) and C.V. to:

  • Theo van de Ven, CSACS Director
  • Department of Chemistry, McGill University
  • 801 Sherbrooke St. W.
  • Montreal, QC H3A 2K6
